FAQ– Beer Photography

Participation

Can I participate if I am not a professional photographer?

Yes. The competition is open to both professional and amateur photographers. What matters is the quality of your vision and its coherence with the theme.

Is there a participation fee?

No. Participation in the competition is free of charge.

Can I enter more than one category?

Yes. You may submit your works to one or more categories, up to a maximum of five photographs in total.

Do the photographs need to be unpublished?

No. Works previously published in editorial contexts or on the author’s personal channels are allowed, provided they are not subject to ongoing commercial exploitation.

Technical Requirements and Submission

What are the technical specifications for the files?

JPEG format, sRGB color profile, minimum long side of 3000 pixels, maximum file size of 20 MB.

Is post-production allowed?

Yes, provided it does not substantially alter the essential photographic nature of the image.

Are AI-generated images allowed?

No. Images generated wholly or partially using generative artificial intelligence systems are not permitted.

How and by when must I submit my photographs?

Works must be uploaded by 12:00 PM (CET) on January 15th, 2027 through the dedicated submission form available on the website (in the “Submission of Works” section starting from March 30th, 2026). Email submissions are not accepted.

Can I modify or replace a photograph after submission?

Until the submission deadline (January 15th, 2027, 12:00 PM CET), you may request the replacement of a submitted work by writing to contest@beerphotography.com. After this deadline, no changes will be permitted.

Evaluation and Selection

Are the works evaluated anonymously?

Yes. The first phase of evaluation is conducted anonymously. In a later stage, the jury may access the authors’ identities in order to define the final selection.

How are the prizes awarded?

The jury evaluates the works according to criteria including thematic coherence, narrative strength, originality, contextual awareness and technical quality.

Do shortlists constitute prizes?

No. Shortlists have exclusively editorial and cultural purposes and do not anticipate the final outcome of the competition.

Exhibition

What are the prizes?

In addition to the opportunity to have selected works exhibited during Beer & Food Attraction 2027, awards consistent with the cultural and authorial value of the project will be granted.

When and where will the final exhibition take place?

The official exhibition of selected works will take place during Beer & Food Attraction 2027, the international trade fair held in Rimini from February 21st to 23rd, 2027. Specific details regarding the exhibition space within the fair will be communicated to selected participants and published on the website.

Rights and Use of the Works

Who retains the rights to the photographs?

Authors retain full ownership of their works. By participating, they grant a non-exclusive license for editorial, cultural and exhibition purposes related to the project.

Can sponsors use the works for commercial purposes?

No. Any commercial use by sponsors or third parties is expressly excluded without a separate agreement directly with the author.

Who organizes Beer Photography?

Beer Photography is a cultural project promoted by Extra Moenia S.r.l., a publishing company active in the beverage and HoReCa sector and publisher of the professional magazine Birra&Sound.
